Artist Profile

Dan O'Halloran

I was born in Seattle in 1945. Among my friends I was the one who loved to draw Native Americans, animals, bugs, reptiles and birds. I spent some time in Taiwan, China, Vietnam and Laos and have always admired Chinese philosophy and art. Professionally I was a journalist for twenty five years of my life. I have never studied art. It's a gift. Many of my works originate from dreams or experiences. I am not trying to imitate Chinese art. More so, it is a way of telling a story, making a statement or demonstrating examples of how Asian design, customs and cultures were carried over the land bridge thousands of years ago. As the ice retreated and the North American Continent became more livable, the ancestors adapted and came to be known as Indians of North and South America. The connection and evidence is very intriguing.
