This image is from the end of the Christian Period in China, when Europeans, Jesuits, etc. were trying to convert the Chinese, while obtaining Chinese secrets and goods.
Kite flying was reserved for men. But like all things, old traditions change. This is my rendering of the moment women first took up the challenge to fly the kites.
